ANIMATE ME IN AUGMENTED REALITY
YEAR 7 DESIGN
TERM 1
Statement of Inquiry
"New technologies may influence the way a community perceives itself"
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING IN DESIGN CLASS:
Welcome to one of the most fun subjects at Preshil... DESIGN! In this term you will be exploring the world of ANIMATION. Though not just any animation... you are going to upload your animation to an Augmented Reality (AR) platform.
Are you ready to get started with some cutting edge technology?
But first... let's get to know YOU a little better.
WHAT IS A COMMUNITY?
First though... let's consider what it means to be part of a community. Here are three questions we are going to explore this term:
1) What is a community?
2) How do we perceive ourselves within a community?
3) Can you succeed without connecting with others?

What is pixilation animation. This might help... have a look at these two pixilation videos:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_rm-UEFueM
Today you are going to investigate how an animation is made and explain what is pixilation animation.
1) Begin on your own... spend 5 minutes writing down ANY ideas you have about animation OR find an example of an animation you like on youtube to share.
2) Break into In small groups of 3 or 4. In your group you are making a presentation on "how to make an animation". Make sure you include the following:
- what is a story board
- what program you might use to make an animation
- why it is important to keep the camera STILL
- 3 types of camera angles you might use
GOOD LUCK!

Working in a group of 3 or 4 to create a 30 second long pixilation animation! Watch the short tutorial video below to get you started and then brainstorm you ideas and come up with a plan for your creation. We have an older version on the school iPads but it wore essentially the same.
Save your video to the camera roll and then use the transfer cable to drag the picture onto your laptop using 'Image Capture' utility (for Mac users). Once you have transferred the video, upload it to your Design Folio website.

Watch the video below for a brief explanation of how to storyboard your pixilation animation then create your own or download an appropriate template from the internet. Your final animation should show:
- who YOU are (refer back to your mind map)
- and the GOALS that you want to achieve by being at Preshil
